October Quarter Century of Caring Winners

It’s time to announce our October winners for the Quarter Century of Caring Campaign! Four different charities were awarded $1,000 in October to help further their causes and benefit their local communities.

Our first winner is Hospice of Wichita Falls, located in Wichita Falls, Texas. They have served the families of north Texas for 30 years by enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families, while promoting end-of-life comfort and dignity. Thanks to the generous donations the facility receives, they have never had to deny care to someone who lacks funds. The Hospice of Wichita Falls was nominated by Barbara Smith of Healthcare Medical Equipment of Wichita Falls.

The next $1,000 winner for October is Panhandle Down Syndrome Guild of Amarillo, Texas. They are a member support group for families whose loved ones have Down Syndrome. The goal of the organization is to raise awareness and acceptance through events such as the annual Buddy Walk. They were nominated by Joe Valdez of Valmed Home Health and Pharmacy Solutions, which has supported the Buddy Walk for 14 years.

Our third winner for the month of October is the CHAT Program at the Center for Community Health and Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. The CHAT Program provides assistance to women with breast cancer by helping to pay for necessary services and treatments. Some of the resources include access to breast prosthetics, compression garments and assistance with medication and transportation. The CHAT Program was nominated by Maureen McCarthy of Women’s Health Solutions of Hyannis, Massachusetts.

The final winner for the month of October is CAST Ministries of Tallahassee, Alabama. They provide people with physical challenges the opportunity to live abundantly through fun, engaging and interactive experiences. Some of the services they provide include a wheelchair basketball team, restoring a lode at Lake Martin to make it barrier-free, and repurposing power chairs and assistive devices for those in need. They were nominated by Glenn Crumpton of Alabama Artificial Limb and Orthopedic Service of Montgomery, Alabama.
